You may wonder why we called this place Dockside Music•Art.
We're actually on a dock, with a fishing boat often tied up behind the building, just a few paces from the North Atlantic. Occasionally, we’ll be distracted by a mast gliding past our windows.
It’s owned by musicians, staffed by musicians, and we have a range of services provided by musicians, often to other musicians. If it's about music, we can likely help. Want to buy a quality instrument? No problem. Learn to play? Check. Make a cd of my own songs? Now you really have our interest. Get me gigs? Maybe. Come to my home, workplace, church or institution and fix the sound system? Yep. Provide a sound system and technician (and even singer, DJ, or band) for my wedding? Absolutely.
You get the idea. We’re here to help and to make it both fun and rewarding.
We feature local artist J.M. Inglis and stock a selection of prints of his high-quality graphite and acrylic works, available for purchase framed and ready for display, or in an ‘easy-to-transport-or-ship’ cardboard tube. We occasionally have the artist here at the Dockside for an afternoon meet-and-greet and autograph session.
Welcome to Dockside Music•Art. We’re a locally-owned music lessons studio and instrument store in Eastern Passage, just outside Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The community of Eastern Passage, on the Atlantic Eastern shore, is one of the oldest fishing villages in North America. It's less than 15 minutes from the bridges spanning the harbour between Halifax and Dartmouth. Today it has developed into a lovely community with a small-town feel, and interestingly, manages to integrate a working fishing village into a must-see village stroll popular with both tourists and locals who want to escape the city.
